When someone tells you to stop because you don’t have what it takes. When someone tells you that you won’t make it because you are lacking the ability. When someone purposely tries to block you from getting to the end. We all can’t stand that person. We all feel that person needs to be shoved aside and proven wrong. But what if that person is you.
We are fully capable of blocking our own way and our own blessings. We can’t always tell or see it either. We play our own devil’s advocate and are blind to the truth. But why would we ever do something like that to ourselves? Easy. Fear. We are afraid of making it big and then what? We start to panic thinking of the responsibility or the pressure. So we slowly start taking steps backwards instead of forward. We start getting too tired to perform anymore or work hard anymore. We start to think we can’t do it anymore because we are afraid of maintaining or gaining. That is when we need to rescue ourselves from a new enemy. Ourselves.
It’s very easy to blame others for being wrong or for doing wrong. But it can be hard to accept it ourselves. How much more that we are the ones hurting ourselves. Humans have an instinct to put themselves first. So how are we also capable of hurting ourselves? That’s a question for a professional. But what I can say is that it is more common than you think. We have all done it. The key is recognizing that you are no longer moving forward but backward and being willing to include yourself in that line of suspects. Our fear easily gets the best of us. It stops us in our tracks. It can make us run back to where we came from. It can make us take full control of a situation and not realize that we are protecting ourselves from the wrong ones.
“They” aren’t always the ones telling us we can’t do it.
Do you believe you can? Then why aren’t you doing it? Their words can’t stop you. You are fully capable of finding ways to attain that dream or goal. Especially in silence when no one has said a word to you, why aren’t you doing it? Why aren’t you chasing that dream? Because of the economy? Was every millionaire born rich? Or did some have to fight to get there? You can’t sit down and complain that you are not moving forward. Even when things get hard the choice is up to you to give up. No one else makes that choice for you. I am currently writing this piece because I woke up this morning with a voice telling me I can't write. Who am I to try and encourage people to be the best version of themselves? Who am I to tell people they are loved and intelligent and strong and creative and beautiful. Who gave me that power?
I know the truth is deep within me because God placed it in me. I know I am capable because God made me capable. He has protected me, positioned me and placed me where I need to be. Right here telling you how awesome you are. But I had a choice to make. To either keep writing or to believe in that doubt and walk away. I hope you choose like I did. Because the great things you are going to accomplish will indeed blow your mind!
